Ø Wonders of Science
Introduction:- We are living in the age of science.
It has made our life easier and comfortable. Science plays an Important role in
Imaginations of man true Science have changed the life style of man. It is the
age of Science. Science has given us many wonder full things which made our life
easier and comfortable. Today every impossible things changed into possible now
man can reach to the moon by space.
Scientific Inventions (वैज्ञानिक अविस्कार):- There are many scientific Inventions
that have made our life very comfortable- electricity is the greatest invention
of science It serves us in many ways- It entertains with T.V. and radio It runs
trains, mills and factories. It cools and warms our horses motor cars,
scooters, railway engines, airplanes computer etc. are all Invention of science,
modern life is Impossible without these scientific Inventions.
Means of Transport and Communication (संचार के साधन एवं परिवहन) :- Buses/cars/trains and airplanes have
made our travels easier, comfortable and quicker. A man can reach any port of
the world with in hours. we can talk to our friends and relatives living very
far from us with the help of mobile phones. Mobile phone is a great service of
man.
Medicine
and Surgery (दवााईया एवं सर्जरी):-
Science has cured man from dreadful
diseases TB (Tuberculosis) and cancer have been controlled. It has made man
healthier. In the field of surgery too science has clone wonders. Open heart
surgery and heart transplantations have become possible.
Computer (संगणक):- Scientists have Invented computer can do
complex calculation and work quickly. They have solved a lot of problems of
man.
Disadvantage (हानिया):- Science have given us atom bombs they
can destroy big cities and kill a lot of persons in a few seconds. Big
factories and other machines have made water and air polluted.
Conclusion (निष्कर्ष्ष) :- Science has proved a great asset to
modern man. If properly used. It can make the life of man healthier and
happier. Man is called master of the world because of science.
Q. On the basis of the picture given
below, write a short paragraph about the importance of trees.
Answer-
Trees are a part and parcel of earthly life. All life directly or
indirectly owes its existence to them.
Trees release oxygen which we need for our life. They also absorb carbon
dioxide.
Many living species live in trees. Trees form the natural habitat of many
animals, birds, and insects.
Trees help make the land fertile. We get good crops out of fertile land.
They are the sources of fruits and flowers.
They offer us cool shade during summer.
During the rainy season, we take shelter under the trees.
Trees and plants are the sources of many supply life-saving drugs.

(i)How does the Tommy describe the old kind of school?
Ans. The old kind school had.a special building and
not set up in a house. All the kinds went there for studying. All the kids of
the same age learnt the same things. The teacher was a real man and not a
mechanical or Robotic teacher.
(ii)Why did the Abdul Kalam want to leave Rameswaram ?
What did his father say to this? what
do you think his words means ?
Ans. (i) Abdul Kalam was very much interested in
pursuing higher studies. Therefore, he requested his father and asked for his
permission to leave Rameswaram and study at the district headquarters in
Ramanathapuram.
(ii) Kalam's father said that he knew that one day
Kalam had to go away to grow. He gave him the analogy of a seagull that flies
across the sun alone and without a nest. He further quoted Khalil Gibran to his
mother saying that their children were not their own children. They were the
sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself. They come through their parents,
but not from them. They may give them their love, but not their thoughts as the
children have their own thoughts.
(iii) Abdul Kalam's father's words bear a deep
significance. He inspired his son to go ahead and pursue his higher education independently.
Further, he explained Kalam's mother to give his son the space to utilize his
opportunities and move forward progressively.

(i) Write the Central Idea of the Poem ‘Wind’.
Ans. The central idea of -the poem is that nobody
cares for the weak people. Even God helps those who are strong. The poet gives
the message that we should work hard to meet the challanges that comes in our
life
(ii)Write the Central Idea of the Poem ‘The Road Not
Taken’?
Ans. The central idea of the poem is to make the
choices in life. We have to make the choices in life and that choices are the
future building of life. Hence, in this poem the poet has talked about the
choices, benefit, love, satisfaction and intelligence etc. The poet has
emphasized on the Choice because the choice is the main part of life. By the choices we make the differences in life.
Therefore, the poet says that the decisions must be taken after thinking a lot,
once it is taken we must go on it. Sometimes the decisions prove wrong.
However, these make all the differences in life.
LONG ANSWER TYPE –(SUPPLEMENTARY READER MOMENTS)
(i) “Toto was the pretty Monkey”. Explain
Ans. Toto was preety as he had bright eyes that
sparkled with mischief beneath his deep-set eye-
brows. His teeth were often displayed in a smile. His tail also added to his
looks.
(ii) Iswaran was a fantastic storyteller. Comment.
Ans. Yes, Iswaran is a fascinating storyteller. He is
well-versed in storytelling. Telling stories is an art. It is not everybody's
cup of tea.
